My Wave is 2006, and very little done to it until 2015, mileage up there, but have recently had $3,000.00 worth of replacement parts done. Have been very satisfied with all and wish I could take all these guys en masse up to Okanagan with me! Great service, pricey of course, but to be expected and would not go anywhere else with my car if I wasn't moving. Thank you, all.

I told them the timing belt was gone on my Jetta knowing it would be an expensive repair little did I know they would have me throw money ($1100) into a blown engine and almost get me for another ($4500) at which time the engine still wouldn't have been fixed. I paid money to have the engine scoped, they said they couldn't see any damage and the next step was to replace the timing belt and see if it turned over (which it didn't) Then having them quote me repairs that were getting higher and higher I decided to pull the car and take it to a VW shop which said right away the engine was blown and I should look into a replacement .

Sean, We tried providing a step by step solution in hopes that we may not need to replace the whole engine. The inspection was not completely definitive and we discussed the strong possibility of bent valves and that you would have had to replace the timing belt regardless so we started with the cheaper of the fixes first. Unfortunately it turned out the valves were bent and the head would need replacing. We also discussed that if the head did need to be replaced and you decided to have us do it that we would not charge you for the labor on the timing belt. At that point we knew exactly what was going on and the VW shop was able to easily pinpoint as well. We don’t know whether or not they would have been able to simply diagnose from the get go and if they did without attempting to start with the cheaper option first would you feel the same if you found out you could have simply solved the problem with a timing belt replacement? We understand in automotive repair there is not always a clear cut road to solving all problems and we are sorry this experience was not the greatest for you. Service was top of scale as I often experience. As most wish things were cheaper but it is what it is.

I took my truck in for a diagnostic on my rear differential. It took them 3 hours to pull it apart for an inspection. I was told that it needed nearly $3000 worth of work. I took my truck for a second opinion at a driveline specialist and they did the Job for less then half the price. I was billed $379.00 for having my rear end pulled apart by Crompton. Other shops (including gm dealerships) quoted me 1 hour for the same job at $120.00. I called and asked Ralph the owner if he could justify the time taken to do the work which other shops said wouldn't take as long. He stood by the time his claims his techs took. I feel like I was ripped off and this shop has lost my trust on my first visit, and people I share this experience with agree with me. I will not recommend Cromptons to anybody.

Alex, I apologize if there was any misunderstanding and feeling of being devalued or cheated as a customer. When shopping for services or products you will usually find someone down the street that will charge less or tell you they would have done something else in order to gain your business. I don’t know for sure if that was the case here or not. That being said, Crompton’s will always stand by our work and the quality of our parts. Our higher charge was to conduct a full and complete inspection and tear down of the rear differential. Our estimate may have been higher because of better quality parts, fixing the problem correctly the first time (not just providing a temporary solution to sell the vehicle) and providing a 3 year 36k warranty on parts and labor. We know we are not always going to be the right fit for everybody but we want to make sure we provide top level service and parts for those in need. Thank you for giving us a chance to win your business. If you would like to discuss further please feel free to give me a call. Ralph - Owner
